Manufacturing characteristics of tantalum plate

Almost all tantalum plates are cold worked. Generally, from 15 to 30 cm tantalum ingot, cold forging results in 8-10 m thick slab, and then cold rolling from this slab, the compression ratio can be more than 95%. In commercial production, the slab is usually rolled into 0.63-1.2cm thick plate with a width of 51-102cm. Typical rolling is carried out at or near room temperature to prevent oxide formation on the surface. When hot rolling is needed, due to recrystallization, the temperature rises to 1000 ℃ and the oxidation reaction takes place.

Almost all thick plates are annealed in vacuum. Since there is no phase metamorphosis, the rate of heating and cooling is not important. Further rolling is carried out with ordinary rolling mill. At this time, 4-Roll mill and multi roll mill are generally used. Since tantalum is very soft, care should be taken to prevent scratches during processing and transportation.

Manufacturing characteristics of tantalum rod

In order to manufacture rod products, the intermediate size is forged or extruded first, and the yield of representative section is 70% - 90%, and then the material is annealed. Forging, rolling, extrusion or drawing processes are usually used for further processing. The wire rod is processed by ordinary wire drawing machine. Because tantalum material is very soft, it is easy to produce scratches, and the surface problems in drawing are very big. The manufacturer should pay special attention to the surface condition and lubrication.

Manufacturing characteristics of tantalum tube

Tantalum can be used to produce welded and seamless tubes, which has a wide range of applications. Seamless tubes are manufactured by extrusion, tube reduction or deep drawing with sheet metal. The manufacturing method of welding is to form plate and strip first, then to form tube shape, and then to weld the seam with gas tungsten arc (GTAW).
